Advanced Radiation Safety Officer5-day workshop, US$ 1,895 This workshop offers advanced training for experienced RSOs, health physicists, or specialists in radiation safety, who have previously completed a 40-hour RSO course (or equivalent experience). Topics will include real-world troubleshooting of radiation safety programs, HAZMAT and emergency response, radioactive and mixed waste management, bioassay programs, ALARA programs, DOT shipping and receiving requirements, BEIR IV, V, VI, risk communication and safety program implementation, instruments (troubleshooting, calibration, QA, and data interpretation), regulations, licensing, compliance, and enforcement, a review of NUREGs, MARSSIM and decommissioning, dosimetry review, radiological risk assessment, and radiation litigation avoidance. Participants will receive an 800+ page Advanced Radiation Safety Officer manual and free refresher training (you may attend this workshop again free). The workshop will emphasize practical answers to: compliance issues, licensing, amendments, audits, dosimetry, instruments, interpreting radiation data, worker training, wastes, shipping and receiving, decommissioning (MARSSIM), decontamination, emergency response, ALARA programs, and troubleshooting RSO issues. The workshop will include practical experience with radiation instruments, as well as emergency response and risk communication exercises. Each day will include discussions of real world experiences. Free Online Course PreviewPrior to attending our course, you will be invited to complete our online Fundamentals of Radiation Safety course. This free course provides an excellent preview of radiation fundamentals as well as introduces some radiation mathematic concepts. Free Refresher TrainingAfter completing this course, you may return at any time to take part or all of the course over once again as refresher training for free. You will receive all new handout materials. CertificatesYou will be issued a course certificate showing completion of a 5-day Advanced RSO class. Full-Time Professional FacultyRay Johnson, MS, PE, FHPS, CHP DOT HAZMAT Certification OptionStudents selecting this option (additional $200 fee required) will complete an additional four hours of course work on shipping and receiving of radioactive materials. This class is designed to train workers in the requirements of the DOT as specified by 49 CFR 172 Subpart H and the NRC as specified by 10 CFR 71.5 and 10 CFR 20.1906. This module is conducted at the end of the regular RSO course on Friday afternoon and will conclude with an examination. Students who successfully complete the exam will receive an additional certificate documenting this training. |
