Radioactive Waste Management and Disposal Services
The Radiation Safety Academy is
uniquely qualified to review or prepare a radioactive waste management program for your organization. Our staff
has years of experience overseeing programs to manage the acquisition, inventory, and disposal of radioactive
materials for licensees. We have experience supervising employees involved in these activities. Our staff has
prepared and reviewed numerous reports summarizing activities related to the radioactive waste and radioactive
materials acquisition, processing and delivery programs and ensuring that these reports are technically correct
and well documented.
Academy staff have been involved in overseeing radioactive
and mixed waste contracts which exceeded $4 million per year and radioactive materials acquisition programs which
were approximately $5 million per year. Our staff assured compliance with radioactive and mixed waste disposal
regulations and policies, and maintained required radioactive waste disposal records. We reviewed radioactive and
mixed waste manifests and inspected shipments of radioactive and mixed wastes to and from government facilities.
We developed the technical requirements for the chemical, radioactive and mixed waste service contracts and
oversaw the establishment of radioactive waste minimization programs. We have experience in planning the
development of computer databases to help manage all radioactive waste and radioactive materials received and
disposed.
The Academy can arrange for
waste pickup, transportation, and disposal using appropriately licensed vendors and transporters. We maintain
active partnerships with a number of companies that specialize in the collection, processing, and final disposal
of radioactive, hazardous, and special medical wastes. We can provide waste disposal containers appropriate for
your operations.
